I thought I'd be furious, maybe even start yelling.

But now, I was so calm that it was almost unsettling. As I looked at James's face, it hit me that I never really knew him at all.

"James, have you no shame?" I said.

James quickly turned his head away, flustered, trying desperately to defend himself.

"I was drunk that night. I never thought something like this would happen. I swear, I only ever saw her as my sister. You're the only one I truly care about, Helen!" he said.
