"Rachel, are you out of your mind?" Dad shoved me aside and stood protectively in front of Katie, making me look like the bad guy.

My face was pale from the pain, but I forced myself to act composed. "Why did Katie get top-level access in the company?

"She copied files from your computer. That's strictly forbidden by company policy. If those files ever get out, the company could face devastating consequences."

Dad snapped at me. "Katie's a hardworking, good kid. She just copied some files from my computer to study. Can't you stop assuming the worst about people?"
