Anthony's voice drifted out from the bedroom.

It was rough and groggy, still thick with sleep.

He was awake.

My heart suddenly tightened.

I wondered what I was supposed to do.

Maybe I should just burst out and confront him and tear off that gentle facade he had always put on.

But then I didn't know what he would do to me.

I didn't doubt it for a second.

With his power and connections, he could drag me right back to hell, just like before.

I couldn't go through with this.
