I didn't go back to my parents' house. I didn't want them to worry, and I really didn't want to deal with their questions.

So I checked into a hotel near my office.

After my shower, I lay on the unfamiliar bed, staring at the ceiling, my mind completely blank.

I thought I'd be devastated, like I couldn't go on.

But strangely enough, I wasn't.

My heart was surprisingly calm.

It was like after a high fever. My body was weak, but my mind was crystal clear.
