Chapter 1
After I came back to life again, I was back at the altar and about to marry Landre Fitzroy for the second time.
Once again, I heard the wedding emcee ask excitedly, "What's the secret to keeping love fresh?"
In my previous life, all I knew was boxing. I looked at Landre reverently and said, "I have no clue about such things. It's my husband who's good at it."
This time, I replied indifferently, "Just like my husband, I believe love and marriage should be kept separate."
His love was reserved for my best friend, but his marriage was to me.
This time, instead of tossing the bouquet to my best friend as I did in my previous life, I smashed it at Landre directly.
Landre gave me the all-too-familiar look of bewilderment and shock that I knew so well.
It was just like when he was a photographer in my previous life. He was secretly taking sexy private photos of my best friend behind my back, and then brushed me off with the same impatient, bewildered look.
"Her body doesn't have scars like yours. This is just pure aesthetics in the eyes of an artist," he used to say.
In my previous life, when I discovered their affair and wanted to show the world my best friend's "pure aesthetics," Landre looked at me with disappointment and called me vulgar.
In this life, Landre tried to placate me, thinking I was just throwing another tantrum.
But I had had enough long ago.
I lifted the hem of my wedding dress to reveal my flat shoes and walked toward my male buddies, who had risen from their seats in indignation.
The whole wedding hall went dead silent.
Landre pulled me aside and warned me in a hushed voice, "What's your problem now? You're about to be a mother. Can you stop this nonsense?"
After coming back to life, everything felt so far away that I had nearly forgotten how it all started.
Landre and I had a shotgun wedding because I was pregnant.
But when I was eight months along, Landre personally ended the pregnancy…
Landre pulled me back to continue the wedding ceremony.
I caught Monicka in her bridesmaid dress, glaring at me with venomous resentment.
Monicka Jeunet and I had known each other for more than twenty years.
Our relationship began when I embarked on my professional boxing career and continued until she became my manager.
We had gone from controversy to the pinnacle of success and to where we were now, complete strangers to each other.
All eyes were on me in an instant.
It was as if I were the one who ruined this story's happy ending.
"No, Landre. I don't want this baby," I said.
When Landre heard that, he just gave an indifferent smile.
He clearly didn't believe it and said teasingly, "Yvon, you've sacrificed so much for this child, and now you're saying you don't want it anymore? Isn't it too late?
"Besides, you're the only one in my heart."
A low chuckle rippled through the crowd.
Rumors were circulating that I had resorted to any means necessary to get pregnant in order to marry into the prestigious Fitzroy family.
The Fitzroy family learned of my pregnancy and used every method at their disposal to find out the gender of the baby, which turned out to be a boy.
The Fitzroy family's tradition dictated that male heirs had to be born within the Fitzroy household.
But the Fitzroy family was dissatisfied with me.
To get the Fitzroy family to accept me and be satisfied with me, I did everything I could.
I gave Landre's mother endless massages. I allowed his father to treat me like a commodity…
Even now, Landre and I hadn't obtained our marriage certificate.
This whole wedding was nothing but a transaction.
In my previous life, I was the only fool who actually treated this whole matter seriously.
When I thought of what was about to happen next, the pain in my chest was overwhelming.
I shook off Landre and spoke with clarity and deliberation. "Landre, I don't care about being Mrs. Fitzroy anymore.
"Now, I'm going to my parents' funeral."
The Fitzroy family didn't panic when they heard me. Instead, they looked annoyed, seemingly thinking that I was raining on their parade.
Even Landre held me back. "Can't you wait until the wedding's over?"
Monicka rushed up to us and said tearfully, "Yvon, nothing is more important than your happiness. I believe my godparents wouldn't want to see you become a bride abandoned at the altar!"
My response was to slap her across the face. "Monicka Jeunet, don't you dare refer to them as your godparents."
Landre frantically stood protectively in front of Monicka.
"Fine, let's see where you can go after leaving us. Don't stop her, let her go!" he barked icily.
As my only supporters, Ivor Voisin and Soren Gaillard could barely contain their anger as they glared indignantly at Landre on the altar.
I had to give them numerous warning glances before they reluctantly held back.
"Yvonna, you'd better think this through. Leave this place, and we'll make sure you never step into the boxing ring again."
Landre's dire warning landed on me like a crushing weight.
But I simply walked up to Ivor and Soren, and together, we walked out of the wedding venue.
Ivor looked at me worriedly. "Are you seriously…"
I nodded firmly as a wave of relief washed over me.
