Edwin asked, his voice rasping like sandpaper, "Mr. Grant, what did you just say? Who's going to Havenport?"

Quaid glanced at Sylvia, then at Edwin, looking puzzled. "You didn't know? Sylvia's heading to Havenport for a movie. She signed the contract and leaves next month. This is probably our last meal with her. After this, it'll be tough to see her again."

Edwin's eyes reddened with emotion.

He shot to his feet, the chair legs screeching against the floor.

He rushed around the table, grabbed Sylvia's wrist, his grip so tight it made her wince in pain.
