Chapter 7

I glanced at Richard.

He looked calm as ever, but I noticed his right pinky finger curl just a bit.

That was his nervous tic, and he only showed it when he was on edge.

In thirty years, I had seen it only during a major crisis.

The last time was last year, when someone started poking around about my identity.

"Mr. Grant?" Zoe called out again.

I made up my mind in a split second.

"Tell her the CEO's not here. Just leave the report at the front desk," I said.

"Got it," Zoe replied.

Her footsteps faded away.
