The next day, I didn't go to see Michael.

I went to the bank.

After waiting forty minutes in line at the counter, I printed out my bank transactions from the past three years.

It came out to eleven pages, all on standard paper.

I sat in the bank lobby, flipping through the pages one by one.

My monthly house payment was 2900, automatically taken out on the 15th of every month. Thirty-six times, and every single one was marked as "Mortgage Payment."

All of it came straight from my account.

Did Michael ever send me money?

Yeah, he did.
