Chapter 3
I said, "Brandon, I'm telling you. My kid is my whole world.
"Over my dead body will I let you hurt my kid."
All those sweet, loving memories flashed through my mind, but they all turned into desperate anger and hatred in the end.
My arm trembled slightly, and the sharp knife I had pressed against my neck immediately sliced open a thin line.
Blood welled up, and for a split second, I saw panic and a flicker of pain in Brandon's eyes.
The next second, he ignored the danger and grabbed the blade to take the knife away from me.
"Holly, how could you risk your own life like that?" he shouted.
Blood was dripping from Brandon's hand, but he acted like he couldn't feel a thing. He anxiously checked the wound on my neck.
When he realized it was a scratch, he let out a sigh of relief.
He tossed the blood-soaked knife aside and called the pack servants in to tie me up with rope.
I struggled violently the whole time.
I shouted, "No. Get away from me!
"Brandon, what are you trying to do?"
Being tied up made me panic inside, and when I looked at Brandon, my eyes were full of despair.
There was an obvious, guarded look in my eyes.
Brandon had never seen me look at him like that before, and his expression flickered a bit.
"You're too emotional right now, and I'm worried you might hurt yourself," he said.
I clenched my teeth tightly, and tears kept falling down my face against my will.
I demanded, "Do you believe that yourself?
"You keep saying you're worried about me, but isn't it because you're scared I'll run away, and you'll miss your best chance to save Jessica?"
Brandon frowned and wanted to say that wasn't what he meant at all.
But before he could speak, the pack doctor suddenly pushed the door open and walked in.
"Alpha, the human girl's health has improved well. She's ready for the third treatment," the doctor said.
He showed Brandon nothing but respect, never even glancing at me. He was clearly following orders.
Brandon's eyes lit up. He turned to look at me, and when he saw my tear-streaked face, he fell silent for a long time.
Even though I already knew how important Jessica was to him, seeing him hesitate and still plan to use my third baby's life to save her made me feel like I was suffocating.
My emotions had swung wildly. My chest heaved violently, and the next second I coughed up a mouthful of blood. The pain in my stomach returned.
"Holly!" Brandon called out.
He rushed over and called the pack doctor over to check on me right away.
After a quick check, the doctor said, "Alpha, I'm afraid the baby can't be saved.
"You must make a decision quickly. If we miss the best time for the treatment, we will have to wait until next year."
I was shaking all over from the pain, and when I heard that, I glared at Brandon with pure hatred.
I shouted through gritted teeth, "Brandon, if you dare use my baby to save Jessica, then I'll be done with you for good."
Brandon looked at me, his eyes full of conflict. After a few seconds, he closed his eyes, his voice rough and strained.
"Just go ahead and treat Jessica right away," he said.
