Chapter 3
I let out a sigh. I had no time to stress about my mom right now, and going home was the last thing I wanted.
If I went back, I was afraid I'd just fall apart, and then my parents would never let me chase my dreams again.
At that time, my biggest problem was that my landlord had kicked me out, and I was worried he might send someone after me. I couldn't stay there anymore.
Good thing someone took me in.
She was my closest friend left in Dreamport: Tracy.
Tracy messaged me on WhatsApp: [Come crash at my place. Not that I'm doing much better. I got to film for half a day this morning before the assistant director told me to settle up and get lost. I asked around at a few guilds, and it turns out I'm blacklisted.
[Anyway, this will all blow over. I don't buy that Cindy can shut us out for good.]
She got dragged down with me, but she still comforted me.
When I finally dragged my suitcase to Tracy's place, she was nervously switching screens on her phone.
"What's up?" I asked.
"It's nothing. If you see it, just ignore it," Tracy replied.
I took her phone and saw it was a news article.
The headline screamed: [Extra Beds Guild Lead for Bigger Roles.]
The photo was of the guild lead who'd chatted with me for a bit this morning.
The person who took the shot was slick. He chose just the right angle, making it look like I was wrapped up in the president's arms.
But in reality, the guild lead was just shoving me away.
My first reaction wasn't anger; it was pure despair. I realized I had dragged someone else into this mess.
The guild lead had just been nice enough to talk to me, and now he got dragged into this mess because of it.
Just a quick scroll and there were even more stories like that popping up.
One guild lead was all self-righteous, declaring: [Yvonne tried to seduce me for a good role, but I've got standards, so I turned her down.]
Someone posted: [I worked with Yvonne on a set. Every time she's on a project, she sleeps with at least ten people. Sometimes she even tries to hook up with extras like us, just to score a free meal.]
Even my ex-bestie from the extras crowd joined in.
She commented: [Yvonne will do anything to get famous. She's got no boundaries: hooking up with a different guy every night. I cut her off ages ago.]
Everyone was against me, slandering me and tearing me apart.
With everyone piling on, the rumors were like a tidal wave, drowning me in lies.
I felt like I was being crucified in the court of public opinion, sentenced to public shame.
Dreamport was swarming with reporters and social media vultures. They smelled blood and rushed in, spreading the drama like wildfire.
The attacks came at me from every direction, relentless and overwhelming.
The criticism just kept snowballing, making me out to be public enemy number one, a living symbol of everything rotten in society.
The comment section was a total dumpster fire: pure poison.
One commented: [See, this is why showbiz is full of dirty secrets. People always blame the actresses. If there's no crack, the flies won't come.]
Another commented: [She'd sell herself out just for a measly extra role. That's some next-level desperation.]
Someone commented: [She might be easy on the eyes, but she's as ugly as they come on the inside.]
One commented: [Raised with zero morals. How could her parents not be heartbroken seeing this?]
A comment read: [Trash. Absolute trash!]
Someone commented: [People like her should be banned forever.]
The comment section was flooded, packed with hate and nastiness.
I was so mad that I was about to cry, but before the tears could even fall, my phone started ringing.
It was an unknown number.
"Hello, is this Yvonne?" a man's voice asked.
He chuckled creepily and said, "Hey, I saw your pics. You look pretty hot. So, what's your rate for a night?
"You're already selling yourself to directors and guild leads just to land a role and make some cash, right? Why not just make it easy and come to me? 300 bucks for one night, deal?"
I snapped, "Get lost!"
I hung up, but the phone just kept ringing.
All unknown numbers.
Insults. Harassment. My inbox was overflowing with them.
Some were even asking straight-up about my rates for a quickie or an overnight stay.
That's when it hit me: someone had doxxed me and leaked my number online.
