I looked at Alexander uneasily.

"I should sleep in the guest room instead."

He shot that down at once. "No one's ever stayed in there. It's not ready."

"That's okay. I can clean it up."

Alexander didn't budge.

I hadn't dared mess with eighteen-year-old Alexander. Twenty-eight-year-old Alexander was even scarier.

What shocked me most was that he actually let me take his bed while he made himself a pallet on the floor beside it.
