I woke to the blaring of my phone.

My hand fumbled across the bed, fighting through the sheets before finding it. The screen lit up with notifications…twenty-three missed calls, fifteen texts, all from Jason.

(I'm so sorry.)

(It didn't mean anything.)

I wanted to throw the phone across the room.

Of course he was sorry now.

I should’ve felt angry.

I did feel angry.

But it was buried under something messier.

And just like that… last night came rushing back into me.
