Chapter 4

Serena's POV

The next night the silence broke in the dark.

I woke to the feel of Nikolai’s hand sliding under the hem of my shirt. Slow. Careful. His palm was warm against the bare skin of my stomach. Neither of us spoke at first. The only sound was our breathing and the soft shift of sheets.

“We shouldn’t…” I whispered.

His mouth found the side of my neck. “I know.”

His hand moved higher, fingers brushing the underside of my breast. I arched into the touch before I could stop myself. He made a low sound against my skin.
