Chapter 1
As a princess who only cared about looks, the moment I saw the elegant and striking top scholar, I seized him and made him my prince consort.
Because of this, the top scholar, Magnus Lloyd, not only lost his official career, but was also forced to stay by my side day and night, entangled with me.
I simply loved watching his cold, glacier-like face lose control because of my madness.
Until one day, when I was in high spirits, dragging Magnus to try out some new tricks from those "passion guide", lines of text suddenly appeared before my eyes.
[The supporting female character is defiling the untouchable male lead! All his ambitions have been crushed by her!]
[Don’t worry, the female lead is already on her way. When the time comes, she and the male lead will work together from inside and out to overthrow the old dynasty and establish a new one. It’s only a matter of time!]
[This supporting female character loves to play so much. Once she’s sent to the military camp, the soldiers will "play" with her to their hearts’ content!]
I jolted in shock and kicked Magnus off the bed.
He stood up, his expression dark and unreadable.
"Did I hurt you?"
If this were before, I would've dragged him right back and bitten him hard a couple of times.
But now, I quickly tossed the Passion Guide at least ten feet away.
"This is bad, it misleads people! It’s late, go to sleep."
Magnus glanced out the window, his face still expressionless.
That was when it hit me just how out of line I'd been.
I had made Magnus do that kind of thing in broad daylight.
I was practically courting disaster.
I gave an awkward chuckle or two.
"Guess we got a bit too crazy. I'm tired."
Magnus went to sleep without saying a word.
He slipped his arms around me, pulling my back against his solid chest.
Those lines of text started flashing again.
[Magnus is probably just waiting for the side character to say she's tired—finally, he can stop putting on an act and playing nice!]
[Magnus doesn't even want to see her face, that's why he sleeps like this. Ugh, why does she always make him cuddle her every night!]
I silently straightened up, trying to move away a bit.
But Magnus moved in closer, totally unfazed.
Little by little, we ended up sleeping right at the edge of this massive bed.
When I tried to turn the other way, he kept me from moving.
"Just go to sleep already."
The text started roasting me again.
[I know the side character couldn't sit still! All that drama just so she could turn around and face him. Glad Magnus didn't take the bait!]
[Obviously, Magnus is all about the female lead! Just tough it out a bit longer, Magnus. She'll get you out of this hellhole soon enough!]
I let the words sink in, and suddenly realized I was the evil side character in this world.
When I found out Magnus loved someone else, my love twisted into hate, and I messed up big time.
The King kept trying to protect me, but ended up losing the people's trust. He disappeared after heading to the front lines to crush a rebellion.
When the bad news hit, I totally lost it. I was hell-bent on taking the female lead down with me. In the end, Magnus had enough and dumped me in the barracks to rot.
After reading all that, I felt it was necessary to pay the King a visit.
I gave Magnus a push and dashed straight to the palace.
The King, Frankie, was my brother. He was buried in paperwork when I slammed my hand down on his desk.
"I want a divorce from Magnus!"
Maybe I'd said it so many times that Frankie was totally unfazed. He just kept working, not even looking up.
"You know Magnus, he's so quiet. It's like pulling teeth just to get him to say anything."
"Quit tossing around the word 'divorce' every day just to make him come running after you. If he ever gets sick of it and actually agrees, you'll have no one to blame but yourself when you're left all alone."
I snatched his pen and declared, "This time, I'm dead set on it!"
Frankie let out a resigned sigh and told the servant, "Call Magnus over."
"It seems like I can't handle this situation this time."
Magnus showed up faster than ever.
I bet he was just scared I'd back out at the last second.
It was not like I hadn't threatened to break up before.
If the treats he brought were cold, the coffee he brewed was scalding, or even if I didn't like his outfit choices, I'd convince myself he just didn't care about me.
I'd put on a frosty face and let my mind run wild.
If he didn't notice and make it up to me right away, I'd snap and throw out "divorce" like it was nothing.
But the moment the words left my mouth, I instantly regretted it.
So Magnus never even got the chance to agree.
But this time, it wasn't like before.
"Why?" Magnus asked, his voice cold as ever.
I was caught off guard, not sure what he meant.
The text popped up to clear things up for me.
[This side character just uses people and tosses them aside. No shame, no decency!]
[Yeah, she keeps whining about divorce whenever things don't go her way! And every single time, she forces Magnus to say sorry!]
[Magnus is totally innocent this time. He doesn't even know what she's mad about, and now he has to swallow his pride and ask her to spell it out for him.]
I quickly blurted out.
"Seriously, I'm not playing around or fishing for an apology. I want out for real!"
"Back then, I never even asked what you wanted. I just dragged you into the palace. That was all on me..."
Magnus interrupted, his tone frosty.
"Are you lost interest already?"
He'd got it all wrong. There were still so many fun things we hadn't even tried yet.
