My phone screen showed 911 already connected.

I shoved Dorothy away, grabbed a cup, smashed it, then picked up a shard and aimed it at her. "Touch me one more time, I dare you."

Maybe shocked by my intensity, Andrew froze, his lips shaking. "Sadie, put it down. You'll hurt yourself. We'll stay with you for the police. We'll clear this up."

Only when the sirens sounded did the tension in my mind finally snap loose.
