It wasn't until Christmas was almost here that my advisor finally showed some mercy and let me go home.

On Christmas Eve, unsurprisingly, my family had dinner with Andrew's.

Andrew was still upset. Both our parents clearly noticed something off between us.

When I went into the kitchen to help bring out dishes, my mom whispered, "Did you and Andrew have a fight?"

I pressed my lips together and stayed silent.
