Chapter 1
My sister, Tina White, and I both awakened our weak rabbit bloodline at the same time.
We had one month to bond with a superior bloodline, or we wouldn't survive the heat.
Our parents spent a fortune to get us into the live-in attendant trials for the Goodman brothers, pure-blood nobles.
A second ago, Tina and I had been swallowing hard, fantasizing about a gigabyte of smut.
But the moment we saw the Goodman brothers' true forms, all excitement about being chosen vanished. Instead, we turned on each other, eyes blazing, and shouted in unison, "Your husband."
The two Goodman brothers shifted back to human form in a flash, their faces livid.
The younger brother, Leo Goodman, pinched my cheek, his smile dark and menacing. "Quite bold for a lesser bloodline."
Seeing the two Goodman brothers standing there naked in broad daylight, I felt my face ignite. It was a lot. Too much. My self-control was being tested in ways I hadn't signed up for. And they were everywhere.
I pulled free and was about to grab Tina and run.
But out of the corner of my eye, I saw Tina whimpering and clinging to Hugo Goodman's leg.
Seeing that Tina was still crying, Hugo snapped, "Shut up. You're too noisy."
Leo snapped his fingers, and the clothes scattered on the floor flew right back onto him.
He smirked, though the smile held a chilling edge. "Still sneaking peeks? You want to go blind or something?"
I shook my head, then snuck a text to Tina behind my back: [Tina, wanna swap?]
My phone buzzed, and I hunched over to check it.
Tina replied: [Yes.]
Before we could celebrate, the Goodman brothers snatched our phones right out of our hands.
True to their superior bloodline, the brothers crushed our phones into dust with a touch.
Tina and I clung to each other, shaking like leaves in the wind.
Meeting Leo's murderous glare, I forced down my fear and managed a stiff smile. "Tina, looks like we really do need new phones."
Tina nodded like a bobblehead. "Yeah, new phones."
Hugo's face softened a little, and he ordered, "Get them the finest, most expensive phones there are."
Then he shot Tina a cold look. "Behave, got it?"
Leo, meanwhile, patted my rabbit ears playfully, almost tauntingly, a lazy, faintly menacing smile tugging at his lips. "Don't pull any more tricks. Trust me, you truly don't want to find out what'll happen next."
Once the brothers left, the suffocating pressure around us finally disappeared, and we both collapsed, gasping for air as we'd survived a nightmare.
When I was a kid, I accidentally picked up a wolf pup and got chased and bitten by its mother. Ever since then, I had been terrified of wolves.
As for Tina, she narrowly escaped being mauled by a tiger. Ever since, the mere word "tiger" sent her breaking out in cold sweat.
Tina wiped her tears, frowning as she shook my arm. "Nancy, we're so unlucky. Those two are bad news. What are we supposed to do now?"
"Tina, don't be scared. Worst case, we fail the critical period next month," I said.
"Are you nuts? We could die."
A fifty-fifty shot was still way better than getting killed by those two. Besides, I had plenty of tricks and strength to spare.
I leaned close and whispered a couple of words to Tina, and her tears vanished into a grin in an instant.
Suddenly, a voice called out, "What are you laughing at? You're here to work, not to fool around. Clean all eleven bathrooms in this villa, or you don't get lunch."
A young maid stood in our way. Her gaze seethed with malice, and her serpent tongue hissed sharply.
I remembered she'd also tried out for the live-in maid selection, but got eliminated in the end.
"We're all working here. Who made you the boss?" I shot back.
I grabbed Tina and turned to leave, but in the next instant, a slimy, forked tongue coiled around my neck, tightening with every second.
Tina's face went pale with fear as she scrambled to pull the tongue off me. "Stop. Let go of my sister. We'll clean the bathrooms."
I could barely breathe, but the tongue kept squeezing tighter.
The maid sneered, "You're nothing but trash. A pathetic lesser bloodline. You don't even deserve to serve the masters."
The next second, the snake maid was sent flying into the wall and slid down to the floor.
She wiped the blood from her mouth, ready to fight back, but the moment she saw who'd hit her, she blurted out in panic, "Mr. Leo Goodman, I...."
Leo shot her a cold, sideways glance and cut her off. "Scram. You got a death wish, touching what's mine?"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Leo Goodman, I won't ever do it again." The maid scrambled to her feet and bolted.
Leo glanced at my neck, pulled a tiny crystal vial from his pocket, and wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Looks awful. Put this on."
I was about to thank him, but before I could get a word out, he disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Tina quickly opened the vial and carefully rubbed the ointment on my neck.
The redness on my neck faded in no time.
