Chapter 1
I'd been a kept woman for five years, and I was damn good at it.
My sugar daddy, Julian, was infertile, treated me like a princess, and never hesitated to spoil me rotten.
I thought we had the perfect arrangement, until I got pregnant.
Afraid he'd cut me off if he found out, I decided to cash in while he still cared about me.
I found a sweet, innocent college girl, set her price at ten million dollars, and showed her how to win Julian over.
On the day of the deal, Julian slid a card loaded with one hundred million dollars across the table to me, his eyes cold and full of sorrow. "You're selling me? Vivian, is that all you think I, and our child, are worth? Just ten million dollars?"

In the bathroom, two bright red lines on the pregnancy test stared back at me, like two bloody slashes, tearing a gaping hole in my world.
My name is Vivian Lawrence. I am a professional kept woman with five years on the job and not a single bad review.
My sugar daddy, Julian Fuller, was the perfect sponsor.
He was handsome, loaded, and always a gentleman. He never lost his temper, and he was so generous with his money it was almost criminal.
Most importantly, he always told people he was infertile because of an accident when he was a kid.
That was the foundation that let me stay by his side for five years without a care in the world.
There were no messy feelings between us, just money, plain and simple. It was clean, and it kept things easy.
But now, this baby was like a ticking time bomb, ready to blow up the five years of stability I'd built.
I couldn't even imagine how Julian would react if he found out.
He'd probably think I'd cheated on him, that I'd been seeing someone else behind his back.
With how possessive he was, he'd make my life hell.
Even if he believed the baby was his, what difference would it make? An unexpected child would mess up all his plans. He hated surprises, and I was the one who dropped the biggest bomb on him.
I couldn't take that risk.
I had to secure a hefty payout while he still had a shred of affection and guilt for me, then take the baby and get far, far away.
An insane idea started forming in my head.
Instead of sitting around waiting for him to dump me, why not turn the tables and sell him off myself?
And I'd make sure I got top dollar for him.
I started scouting for my replacement.
My target quickly became Sophie Davis, a junior in the dance department.
Her face was fresh and innocent, her eyes clear and untouched by the world, with just the right hint of ambition.
She reminded me so much of myself five years ago.
I set up a meeting with her at a café and slid a card with one hundred thousand dollars across the table.
"This is your down payment," I said.
Sophie's eyes sparkled, but she still kept a hint of caution. "Ms. Lawrence, what exactly are you offering here?"
I picked up my coffee, my tone as casual as if we were just talking business.
"I'm giving you a chance to get close to a man. If you succeed, you pay me ten million dollars."
Sophie sucked in a breath, her fingers tightening around the card.
"What kind of man is worth ten million dollars?" she asked.
"Julian," I replied.
When I said his name, Sophie's pupils contracted, a flash of shock in her eyes.
In Aurelian City's elite circles, Julian was a gold standard, young, loaded, single, and with a face that could outshine any celebrity.
Countless women had tried to get into his bed, but every single one had failed.
Sophie's breath quickened. "Why me?"
"Because you're just like me," I said, meeting her gaze. "And he's got a thing for girls like us."
I didn't tell her that Julian's infertility was my ace in the hole, the reason I could stick around for five years.
That was my little gift to her, the inside scoop that could rocket her straight to the top.
Sophie's ambition caught fire. She didn't even hesitate before saying yes.
"So, what do you want me to do?" Sophie asked.
"From now on, I'm going to train you from the ground up," I said, sliding a thick stack of papers across the table. "This has all my secrets from the last five years."
Across the top, it said, "The Canary Protocol".
To make sure this deal went off without a hitch, I made an even bolder move.
I set up a group chat.
The name was blunt and a little sarcastic, "Ladies' Ascension Guild".
It was just a few of my "sisters" from the business, the ones I'd gotten to know over the years.
We were all vines clinging to men, and we all understood the game without saying a word.
I dropped my "Sell the Sugar Daddy" scheme into the group chat, and it instantly blew up, everyone was freaking out.
Allie: "Damn, Viv, have you lost it? You're seriously gonna pack up and sell your sugar daddy? That's some business mastermind shit!"
