Chapter 4

Waited about twenty minutes.

Jack came back, brought me a bowl of noodles. "Eat up."

The noodles looked pretty sad some broth and a couple of leaves floating on top.

I took the bowl and ate in small bites, head down.

While I ate, I started asking questions. "Jack," I said softly, glancing up at him nervously. "What's the name of this village?"

He paused for a second. "Stonebridge Hollow."

"Stonebridge Hollow," I repeated, then asked, "How long have you lived here?"

"All my life."

"So how many families are there in the village?"

"About a hundred or so," he…
