"But what if we end up killing the wrong person?" I'd barely finished speaking when the sound of galloping hooves suddenly rang out from outside.

Eden tensed up, quickly shutting the courtyard gate. He grabbed his sword and stood guard by the door, shooting me a wary glance.

"The Kharguns look nothing like us, so they're easy to spot. But some people... end up killing innocent folks just to pad their kill count. Go inside. Whatever happens, stay put. Don't come out, no matter what you hear," Eden said.
