Seeing Wayne so lost and defeated, Colette felt no satisfaction, just numbness.

She turned to Caleb. "Caleb, let's head back. It doesn't feel right leaving Teddy alone in the hospital room."

"Alright." Caleb nodded, shielding Colette as they walked past Wayne.

Colette didn't spare Wayne a single glance.

Wayne stood there, watching them walk away side by side, Caleb's hand hovering protectively behind Colette.

The scene burned into his eyes, nearly driving him insane.
