Chapter 4

I first met Maxwell at the hospital.

He had been rushed in after a suicide attempt, and I was the one who saved him. Later, I found out he was battling depression. As his attending physician, I took extra care, visiting his room often.

Once, I asked him, “What drove you to consider suicide? For someone as handsome and wealthy as you are, what could possibly be troubling you?”

Colleagues had already mentioned that he was the son of the CEO of Kellogg Corporation and came from a privileged background. He turned to look at me but remained silent.
