Chapter 2
Bennett's house was a manor-style palatial villa located in Riverbend's most prestigious district, where land was worth its weight in gold. The property was so vast that it took a full ten minutes to drive from the front gate to the main entrance.
I sat in the passenger seat of Beck's Rolls-Royce Phantom, gaping at the view outside the window. I never imagined Beck's workplace would be this luxurious.
Bennett had handed Beck the keys to this Rolls-Royce Phantom a few months ago on a whim, a perk that quickly became Beck's everyday car.
The luxury car came to a smooth stop at the villa's grand entrance. I got out of the car with Beck.
"Good morning, Mr. Zachary." The entire staff greeted Beck in unison. Their thunderous chorus made me jump.
As expected of a domineering CEO's butler, Beck held a significant position in the workplace.
"Brace yourself," Beck cautioned solemnly before he pushed open the doors.
I nodded without really understanding why, just eager to see whether it was really like those viral posts online claimed, with everything covered in gold for the ultra-rich.
The double doors swung open, and I stood frozen at the threshold. I wasn't stunned by the lavish decor, but the unbelievable sight of an interior done in full battle-worn style.
I gasped, "D-did someone rob the place?
"Or did a tornado just rip through the inside of the house?
"Should we call the police?"
