Chapter 1
Right as my failing heart was about to give out, I finally got the call—a donor heart was waiting for me.
But my boyfriend, the head of cardiology, gave it to a woman who reminded him of his first love.
Barely clinging to life, I dragged myself to his room to confront him, only to hear them dreaming aloud about their future.
"When you're better," he said softly, "we'll go hiking, skiing… do everything you've ever wanted."
Moments later, she posted online: [If one's in love, there's nothing to fear about death.]
I didn't confront him. I just liked her post, then summoned the system.
"I'm tired," I whispered. "Take me home."

After returning to the ward, I lay on the bed.
A short while later, my boyfriend, Shane Holloway walked in, carrying a lunchbox.
He sat by the bedside, opening the lunchbox and checking my complexion. "Erin, I brought you pork chops. Eat up. It's good for you."
I did not take the fork he offered, but instead met his gaze. "Where did you go?"
A flicker of panic flashed in Shane's eyes, then he grabbed my hand. "You were about to wake up, so I went to get you some food. What's wrong?"
Seeing how guilty he looked, I smiled and withdrew my hand, pointing to the pork chops. "Shane, heart disease patients cannot eat high-fat foods. Are you so consumed by Nora that you've forgotten even the most basic medical advice?"
I exposed his lie without hesitation, watching coldly as his expression gradually changed from panic to composure. He even seemed as though he didn't care if I found out anymore.
He looked troubled. "Erin, Nora is really ill. She suffered a heart attack because of me back then. Now that she got the donor heart, I'd feel less guilty. You should understand."
I looked at Shane. I suddenly felt he was no longer the man I remembered who cared for me; he had become a completely different person.
The donor heart had been matched to me first, and the chance of rejection would have been smaller if it were transplanted into me. Yet, Shane, for Nora's sake, took it upon himself to transplant the heart to her.
As a cardiologist, Shane had to be fully aware of the dangers involved.
In the past, every time I had a heart attack, Shane would cry from the pain of seeing me suffer, praying desperately for a suitable heart to be found.
He checked the donor system almost every moment of every day, and the second a match appeared, he'd rush me to the hospital for testing.
That changed when Nora Freeman was also hospitalized due to a heart attack.
That day, Shane stared at Nora's face for a long time, lost in thought. It was then that I realized Nora looked very much like Shane's first love from his youth.
From then on, Shane paid a little more attention to Nora, and she followed him wherever he went.
Every day, she would bring flowers and gifts to confess her love to Shane.
The endless ways she confessed her love soon had everyone in the hospital—doctors, nurses, even the patients—talking about the devoted admirer chasing after Shane from cardiology.
Many even egged Shane on to accept Nora's love.
If it had been anyone else, Shane would have directly refused long ago.
But Nora looked too much like his first love, and he couldn't bring himself to be cruel.
It wasn't until I was feeling upset again that Shane brought me to Nora. Holding my hand, he said, "Miss Freeman, I already have a girlfriend."
The result was Nora having a heart attack, clutching her heart and collapsing in front of us.
Shane was criticized by the hospital and never brought me in front of Nora again.
I also watched Shane change from initial disgust toward Nora, to giving up and finally showing affection toward her, even spoiling her.
Shane stood up and pulled me into his arms. "Look, Erin, you just had another attack, so don't get upset. I was wrong. Don't be angry anymore."
I gently pushed him away. "I'm not angry."
Shane's brows furrowed. He gave me a complex look, and didn't say anything more.

Because of a heart attack, I was bound to a system. The system wanted me to conquer Shane, and the reward was a healthy body.
Shane was the youngest associate chief of cardiology, a golden boy with countless admirers.
The system put me in a villain's body. She had a mother who died young, and a father who gambled. She grew up having endured countless abuses.
Shane and I were as different as heaven and earth. How could I possibly succeed in this mission?
To free myself from the pain of heart disease in the future, I steeled myself and went for it.
However, the moment I merged with this body, a familiar suffocating pain originating from my heart swept through my entire body.
It was a symptom of a heart attack.
Just as I was about to lose consciousness, Shane drove by, glanced over, and saw me.
Then came a series of emergency measures I had experienced countless times.
Shane was very professional. Thanks to him, my life was saved, and I didn't die in this unfamiliar world before even starting the mission.
Since then, I latched onto Shane.
I also confessed in various ways to him with flowers and gifts.
