Chapter 3

My mind went blank.

I sank down against the wall, my voice shaking. "Didn't I already pay you back?"

"So what? We're still going to report you," Grace said sarcastically.

"Those reports are fake. Aren't you afraid of getting caught?" I shouted, my anger boiling over.

"Come on, we're old. It's normal for us to see things wrong," Grace shot back.

I was drowning in despair.

Two hours later, the health department officials arrived and ordered me to shut down for an investigation.

I brushed away my tears and gave a small nod.

I went upstairs and didn't come down.…
