Chapter 3

Blood was everywhere. The pain kept dragging me back to consciousness, again and again, until at last, they took the lifeless child from my body.

Olivia muttered, "That dead baby isn't going to come back as some vengeful ghost, right? Ethan, hurry up and burn it clean. It's such bad luck!"

Even as I pleaded, Ethan didn't hesitate. He picked up a cloth nearby, wrapped it around the lifeless baby, and set it on fire. "You happy now? You've had a long day. Go rest up."

They turned and walked away.

They didn't even glance back as the fire raged…
