Chapter 7
Kendall flipped open the folder, her expression icy. "What's the company called?"
"Synergix Group," Len said, hesitating. "Legal rep's… Sharon."
A ghost of a smile flickered on Kendall's lips."Gotcha."
She snapped the folder shut. "Call Stone Group's legal team. Start phase one: freeze every commercial account tied to Sharon and the White family."
"Docs are ready," Len replied. "Just need your John Hancock."
Kendall grabbed a pen, her signature sharp and confident. "Starting today, Sharon's gonna pay back every dime she stole from me."
Meanwhile, in the conference room at White Group headquarters, the atmosphere was thick with tension.
Dwayne stood at the head of the table, his face red, veins popping.
"Figure it out!" he snapped. "Who gave her the power to lock down our accounts at Helios Tower?"
The CFO shifted uncomfortably. "Mr. White… we can't pin down her backers. The shares she's got? They came straight from the late chairman. All the paperwork's legit, and—"
He swallowed hard. "Last night, she pushed through an audit proposal. Most shareholders already signed off."
Dwayne's scowl deepened. "What's that mean?"
"It means," the CFO said, voice low, "she's not just holding the reins with her shares. She's got the board's blessing to tear through every financial move this company's made."
Gillian stood frozen. "She's really digging up old dirt?" she whispered.
"Oh, she's daring alright," a voice cut in.
Sharon stormed in, out of breath, waving a lawyer's letter.
"She froze my Synergix Group account! Even my personal backup card's locked!" she shouted.
"No way," Gillian gasped.
"It gets worse," Sharon said, her voice shaky. "She's not just freezing accounts. She's pushing for a court order to trace every cent I've moved in the last three years—including everything I got from you guys."
"She's out of her mind," Gillian muttered. "Is she trying to bury us?"
Sharon went still, her eyes burning with resentment.
"No," she spat out through gritted teeth. "She's not crazy. She's been planning this for years."
Meanwhile, over at the Starion City Prosecutor's Office, a special agent from the Audit Division was busy reviewing the paperwork.
An auditor hunched over a pile of documents, speaking quietly. "Kendall's paperwork is bulletproof. We've got enough to kick off an investigation. If the money trail checks out, we can file charges right away."
The chief auditor nodded. "Get the word out to all units. We need full cooperation. This case might pull in more than just the White family, so keep your eyes open."
In the top-floor conference room of Helios Tower, Kendall sat at the head of the table, drumming her fingers lightly on the tabletop.
"PR, finances, audits, legal moves—take it slow, piece by piece," she said coolly.
Her voice was calm, her gaze steady as steel. "I'm not worried about her fighting back. I'm worried she'll crash too soon.
"I want her to watch everything she built burn to the ground, step by step."
The next morning, the headline on the Starion City Financial Daily was impossible to ignore.
[Stone Group Severs All Ties with White Group, Citing 'Opaque Finances and Major Fund Discrepancies'.]
One line, and White Group was thrown into the fire.
Sharon was in the makeup room, prepping for a livestream interview.
"This dress is perfect, Sharon," the makeup artist said nervously. "It'll make you look soft and classy on camera."
Sharon stared at her reflection, her chin high, still radiating confidence.
