"We did try. But we couldn't hold you back," Dad explained bitterly. "You were too strong."

Mom quickly nodded. "Yes, yes. You dragged me down."

She showed Emily the scrapes on her arm. "See? Took off a big piece of skin."

Normally, Emily would instantly apologize and tenderly blow on the wound.

But now, she glared, scolding with urgent accusation. "Why didn't you stop me? If you had, I wouldn't be like this!"

My parents were stunned. They stared at Emily in disbelief.
