Chapter 1
Three years into our remarriage, Damian Blackwood fell for a slum waitress and had his entire security pack roleplay as humans just to please her.
Caught in the act, he didn't even bother to hide his wolf ears, casually buffing his claws.
"Evelyn, I promised you my mating bond when we remarried. Don't be petty over a human girl."
That arrogant look was a carbon copy of how he abandoned me for another she-wolf five years ago.
Ignoring my tears, Damian was absolutely certain I could never bring myself to leave him.
After all, we only remarried to save our sickly half-wolf son's life.
Yet the next day, I caught Damian holding that waitress as they walked into a top private hospital for a prenatal checkup.
It hit me right then that he'd already sired a wolf pup with another woman.
And while our son lay dying from a failed shift, he was busy fooling around in his mistress' apartment.
Wiping my tears, I snapped a photo of the ultrasound and coldly called the notary to sever our blood covenant.
Damian completely forgot about the blood oath agreement he'd signed before the pack elders when we remarried.
One more betrayal meant stripping him of his Alpha title and leaving him with absolutely nothing.
This time, I'm gonna take my son and marry his archrival, the Wolf King, making him pay back everything with interest.

The smell of cheap grease filled the rundown diner in the slums.
I pushed open the rickety glass door.
Damian was wearing a faded, worn-out T-shirt.
He stood before a greasy griddle, flipping a cheap steak.
His prized pureblood claws were carefully gripping a plastic spatula.
Several regional managers from his security firm sat on plastic stools in ripped jeans.
They were loudly munching on stale french fries.
A human girl wearing a pink apron leaned close against Damian.
The girl was Lily Carter.
She was dabbing the sweat from Damian's forehead with a tissue.
Damian hadn't even bothered to retract his wolf ears.
The dark gray ears twitched happily at the girl's gentle touch.
Storming up to the griddle, I flipped the plastic tub of raw meat right over.
I screamed at him.
"Leo is throwing up blood at the hospital! His shift failed! The doctor said his organs could fail any second!"
Damian stopped what he was doing.
He casually grabbed a rag to wipe his greasy claws, not even looking up at me.
"Evelyn, you gotta make a scene while Lily's trying to work?"
He tossed the rag onto the griddle.
"Leo is a half-wolf. He's naturally weaker than a pureblood pup."
"It's just a fever. You're always overreacting."
Lily shrank back behind Damian. She tugged at the hem of his shirt.
"Damian, who's this lady? She's so scary. Did she get mad because I asked you to cover my shift?"
Damian turned around, shielding Lily. He reached out and ruffled her hair.
"Don't worry, she's just a psycho. A bitter woman clinging to me using our son."
I glared intensely at Damian.
"Did you forget our terms for remarrying? You swore you'd pour everything into saving Leo!"
Damian let out a cold chuckle.
"Evelyn, I promised my mating bond only to you when we remarried. There's no need to take it out on a human girl. She's had a rough life. I'm just giving her a little warmth.
"You've got the Luna title already. Want to steal all my freedom too?"
The regional managers around them burst into mocking laughter.
"Come on, boss is exhausted running the firm every day. What's wrong with hitting the slums to taste normal life?"
"You're just being way too petty. Jealous over a human girl, seriously?"
I pointed right at the wolf ears exposed on Damian's head.
"You call this tasting normal life? You don't even bother to hide it anymore! You're risking Leo's life just for this woman!"
Damian slammed his hand hard onto the griddle, searing hot grease splattering onto the back of my hand.
Blisters flared up instantly on my skin.
I stumbled back from the sharp pain.
Damian pointed toward the exit.
"Get the hell back to your mansion and stop embarrassing yourself here. Leo has the best doctors in town. He won't die.
"Keep scaring Lily, and I'll cut off Leo's medical fund."
Lily peeked out.
"Ma'am, Damian is just a poor working guy. Can you rich folks stop bullying him like this?"
I trembled with absolute rage.
I pulled out my phone.
The screen flashed our third critical condition notice from the clinic.
I shoved the screen right into his face.
"This is your own son!"
Damian smacked the phone right out of my hand.
It hit the concrete floor, shattering into a spiderweb.
"I said, get out."
He threw his arm around Lily's shoulder.
"Let's head to the back. Ignore this psycho."
They turned and walked into the narrow kitchen.
The security managers stood up, blocking my path.
"Time to go."
Crouching down, I picked up the shattered phone.
The blisters on my hand burned like fire.
The screen flickered to life.
The lead ICU doctor was calling.
I swiped to answer.
"Ms. Grant, Leo's heart just stopped for three minutes. We barely brought him back with a defibrillator. He keeps calling out for his dad. You gotta get Mr. Blackwood over here right away."
I hung up the phone.
