Chapter 4

In the next second, I didn't hesitate at all.

I grabbed Sophia and hauled her into the RV with everything I had.

It happened faster than anyone could react.

I locked the front and rear doors.

The whole thing took one breath.

Sophia stared at me, lost. "Emily, what's wrong?"

My teeth were chattering, and my face was soaked.

"Sophia, it's him. He's the one. He's the man who was going to hurt you."

I couldn't stop moving, and I fumbled my phone out.

I called Mom over and over, "Pick up. Mom, please pick up."

We couldn't stay there.
