The day my study abroad approval came through, Claire texted me, saying she wanted to celebrate.

"Let's call it a farewell dinner between friends," she said over the phone. "I know a great restaurant."

I hesitated for a moment, thinking about all the help she'd given me, and agreed.

"Okay, thanks," I replied.

Claire had picked a table by the window. When she saw me come in, she stood up and pulled out my chair for me.
