Chapter 3
Even though I'd deleted Felix's contact info, I still remembered his number by heart.
Once I got home, I added him on WhatsApp using his number.
About an hour later, he accepted my friend request. Felix: [Send me your address.]
I stared blankly. "Babe, why does he want my address? Is he actually coming over?"
"Seems like that's what he's planning," said my son.
"What if he finds out I'm pregnant? What if he already knows? Should I just bail now, or is it already too late?" I asked.
"Mom, chill. Running won't do any good. If he wants to find you, it's just a matter of time," he assured me.
"So are we just doomed?" The thought left me completely hopeless. "Babe, don't worry. I won't let you go through this alone."
"Mom, seriously, these days the wait for reincarnation is at least a hundred years, and you might not even get born in the end," my son joked.
"Never mind, let's hang in there a bit longer," I sighed.
"Chill for now. Judging by how Dad has been acting, I don't think he's figured out I exist yet. Maybe he's just coming to see you," my son said.
"Since he's always glued to Yasmin, what's so special about me?" I rolled my eyes.
"Beats me. We'll find out when he gets here. Whatever comes our way, we'll handle it." He shook his head.
"Alright, whatever." I sent Felix my address, though I was really dragging my feet about it.
"Mom, hurry up and hide anything that might give away your pregnancy. Don't let Mr. Parker find out," my son advised.
"Got it." I nodded.
I quickly grabbed anything that could blow my cover and shoved it all into the storage closet.
Just as I sat down to catch my breath, the doorbell rang.
I hurried to open the door, giving him an awkward smile as I said, "Mr. Parker, it's been a while."
Felix's face was unreadable as he gave a slight nod. "I'm staying in Caowland for a few days. I can't stand the hotels here, so I was hoping to crash at your place for a bit."
I was torn.
Felix never liked hotels; even the fanciest presidential suites couldn't change his mind.
But letting him crash at my place? No way, I just couldn't risk it.
When I didn't answer right away, Felix stared at me, his eyes dark. "Is this a bad time?"
"Don't say no. If you refuse, he'll just get more suspicious. Just agree for now," my son urged.
I forced a smile. "No trouble at all, Mr. Parker. Come on in."
I stepped aside to let Felix in, and it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't have any slippers for guys at home.
"I didn't expect you to drop by, Mr. Parker, so I didn't get a chance to prepare anything for you. Just make yourself comfortable, I'll go grab some stuff you need and be back in no time," I said.
Felix just nodded. "Alright."
When I got home carrying my toiletries, I realized Felix wasn't in the living room.
I thought he'd left and was ready to throw a mini party, but then he suddenly walked out of the storage room.
My heart skipped a beat.
Just as I was wondering if I should drop to my knees and beg for forgiveness, Felix remarked with a straight face, "The place looks pretty clean."
I pulled a wry smile. "Nothing else to do, so I end up cleaning every day."
Felix just reached out his hand. "Give it to me."
"Oh." I quickly handed him the plastic bag with my toiletries.
Felix slipped on his slippers and walked off to the bathroom with the bag, moving around like he was right at home.
Seeing he was planning to stay the night, I went to make up the guest bed.
Seriously, I kind of despised him.
He was chasing after Yasmin, but was still crashing at his ex-pet's place. Did he even know what boundaries were? Probably, that was why he would never be the leading man. He totally deserved it.
Felix was quick in the shower. I'd just finished making up the bed when he came out with just a towel around his waist.
He leaned against the doorframe, raising an eyebrow at me. "I'm sleeping in the guest room?"
Before I could even process, I just nodded. "Yeah."
What else did he expect?
Felix's gaze darkened.
Even though his expression barely changed, I could sense he was annoyed, and it hit me why.
So not only does he have zero boundaries, but he also actually thought he could stay in my room. I despised him even more for that.
Good thing Yasmin didn't choose him.
Just as I was trying to figure out how to talk my way out of it, he suddenly asked, "Are you hiding something from me?"
I instinctively covered my stomach, then quickly let go and forced a nervous laugh. "No, not at all."
Felix's face clouded over, his piercing gaze never wavering from my eyes as he closed the distance between us, step by step. "You really suck at lying. You know that?"
I instinctively backed away until my back hit the nightstand behind me.
He planted his hands on the wall, boxing me in between his arms.
The sheer intensity of his presence made my breath catch.
"Wow, didn't waste any time finding yourself a new sponsor, huh?" Felix sneered.
I looked up at him, totally caught off guard.
