Chapter 1
The day I found out I was pregnant, my sugar daddy's first love came back into his life from overseas.
I booked an abortion without hesitation.
Just as I was about to swallow the pills, a baby boy's voice echoed in my head. "Mommy, please, let me live."
The baby boy added, "My dad is the devoted second male lead. The female lead will never choose him, and he has serious fertility issues. I'm the only child he'll ever have.
"If you keep me, I'll inherit his billion-dollar empire and take you to the top."
I froze. Then I turned around and dropped the pills into the trash.

I'd read so many web novels that nothing could really surprise me anymore. So when the boy started talking in my head, I believed him right away, no questions asked.
I slipped into my car, buzzing with excitement, and asked, "Babe, should I tell your dad I'm pregnant now?"
"No way. Dad doesn't even realize he's just the hopeless second lead. Right now, he's all fired up, going after Yasmin like he's got a shot. If he finds out about me, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure I never get born," he said.
I thought for a moment, then suggested, "Should we tell your grandma?"
Felix Parker was head over heels for Yasmin Sloane, but his mother, Yasmin Sloane, wasn't clueless; she'd definitely treasure her one and only grandson.
"No way, don't tell my grandma yet. She absolutely hates those scheming pets who'll do whatever it takes to get ahead. If she holds it against you, she might not even care about me, especially since I'm not even born yet," my son said.
"Then what should I do?" I asked.
He suggested, "Just leave Kinsburg for now, raise me on your own, and only tell them about me when I'm older.
"Dad's never getting married or having another kid, so when the time comes, Grandma won't have any other option. She'll have to accept me.'
"But that means you'll be born out of wedlock, right?" I hesitated.
My son said, "Mom, you're seriously overthinking this. Dad's hung up on Yasmin. He'd never marry anyone who isn't her. He's doomed to be single for life. At most, I'll just be a child born out of wedlock.
"Trust me. If you have me, everyone in the Parker family will be singing your praises."
Alright, I got it now. Then I said, "Okay, I'll go home and break up with your dad right away."
According to my son, this was a world straight out of a novel.
The female lead was Yasmin, heiress of the Sloane Group, and the male lead was Yann Lockwood, the golden boy of Kinsburg's elite circle.
Felix was the classic hopeless simp, the second male lead who spent the whole story chasing after Yasmin, only to get his heart stomped on in the end.
Yasmin had been head over heels for Felix ever since they were kids, always tagging along behind him wherever he went.
But Felix was clueless about love back then. He only saw Yasmin as a kid sister, so when she finally confessed her feelings, he shot her down.
Devastated, Yasmin left for overseas and didn't return for seven long years.
When they reunited after all that time, Felix suddenly realized he'd been in love with Yasmin all along. He started going after her with everything he had, desperate to win her back.
But Yasmin's heart had already been broken by him, and now, with Yann relentlessly pursuing her, she wasn't about to let Felix back in so easily.
After all that drama, Yasmin ended up picking Yann, the adorable male lead.
Felix could never move on. He spent his whole life silently devoted to Yasmin, always watching over her from afar.
This was just the classic second male lead heartbreak trope.
If Felix weren't my son's dad, I'd be giving him a big thumbs up.
When I got back to the villa, Felix was already off work.
He was standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, smoking away, looking like he had a million things weighing on his mind.
My first instinct was to go over and hug him, but then I remembered, he was the classic lovesick second lead, always pining after Yasmin. I held myself back and greeted him with a polite, "Hi, Mr. Parker."
Felix came back to himself, walked over, put out his cigarette in the ashtray, and finally spoke up. "There's something I need to talk to you about."
My heart skipped a beat.
So it was finally happening.
"Don't panic, Mom. We saw this coming." My son's voice popped into my head.
I took a deep breath and managed a smile. "What is it?"
Felix sat down, looked up at me, his voice as calm and cold as his eyes. "How long have we been together?"
My heart skipped a beat.
Was this the breakup talk?
Even though I always knew my place, being so intimately close to a guy like Felix for five years, there was no way I could stay completely unaffected.
I forced a smile. "Just one more month and it'll be five years."
Felix nodded thoughtfully. "So it's really been that long."
I found myself getting a little sentimental.
Yeah, I guessed it was overdue for a change.
Honestly, compared to those playboys in his circle, Felix was surprisingly loyal.
He'd been with me for five whole years. Most of those guys would've swapped out ten girlfriends in that time.
I guessed I should count my blessings.
Felix was quiet for a moment before he finally broke the silence, his tone serious. "I've been thinking. We can't stay like this forever, so I want to—"
But before he could finish, his phone rang, sharp and sudden.
Felix glanced at the screen, then got up and headed out to the balcony to take the call.
I caught a glimpse of the caller ID. It was Yasmin.
It hurt, and I kind of wanted to cry.
But then I remembered, my son would end up inheriting his fortune someday. That perked me up a little.
