Chapter 2
Yale might swagger around like he owns the place, but at heart, he was just a pure-hearted guy, hopelessly naive and easily flustered whenever someone teased him.
But Yale was right about one thing. Jensen was someone I could never afford to cross.
And he definitely wasn't the kind of guy who'd just take being cheated on and keep quiet about it.
Jensen was the heir to a multi-billion-dollar empire. The Marsh family's fortune couldn't even match his pocket change.
If he ever decided to get revenge, the Marsh family wouldn't stand a chance. But honestly, why should I care?
The Marsh family was my dad's, my stepmom's, and their two kids'. None of it was mine.
The only thing I really had to worry about was that if Jensen dumped me, my dad would probably force me to marry some perverted geezer way older than him. But hey, that was a problem for future me.
Barely thirty seconds after I shut the door, the bell rang again. I thought Yale was back for more, so I swung the door open without a second thought.
Instead, I found myself face-to-face with Jensen's thunderous expression. And every flirty line I had ready just died in my throat.
Jensen didn't say a word. he grabbed my arm, dragged me inside, and slammed me against the wall in the entryway.
He grabbed my face hard, glaring at me through gritted teeth as he demanded, "Who the hell did you sleep with?"
Jensen was the type who always kept his cool. One would hardly ever catch him showing any emotion.
I was pretty impressive. I got him to lose it twice today.
I couldn't break free, so I stomped on his foot as hard as I could. "Not telling," I shot back.
Jensen winced, and his grip on me loosened just enough.
I took the chance to break free and bolted for the living room. But he caught up in no time, grabbed me around the waist from behind, and carried me straight to the bedroom.
He threw me onto the bed and pinned me down, his presence heavy and intense. I stopped fighting, lying there as I'd just accepted my fate.
"Go ahead, if you're not disgusted," I said.
Jensen froze, his eyes blazing as they dropped to my stomach. In that moment, rage completely drowned out any trace of desire. He snapped, his hand clamping around my throat.
He spat, "You've got three days to deal with that bastard in your belly. If you don't, don't say I never gave you a chance."
He threw me aside and stood up, like I was something filthy he couldn't bear to touch.
I sat up, giving him an expressionless stare. "Let's just break up," I said.
Jensen's hand stilled for a moment as he adjusted his collar. a flicker of surprise flashed across his face, but it vanished just as quickly, replaced by a mocking, contemptuous sneer.
"Who says you get to call the shots?" he sneered.
I glared back at him, refusing to back down. "Ms. Blackwood is single now."
Jensen had been head over heels for Lily Blackwood for years. But Lily only ever had feelings for Jensen's older brother.
Six months ago, his brother died unexpectedly, and Lily had been down in the dumps ever since.
Three months back, Jensen, determined to lift her spirits, took Lily on a trip around the world, ignoring all the gossip swirling around them.
Marrying his late brother's fiancée might be controversial, but for someone as arrogant as Jensen, it was never a big deal.
Jensen shot me a warning glare. He said, "Victoria, remember. No one gets to boss me around. This relationship ends when I say it ends, not when you want it to. You're smart. You should know what to do."
My heart just kept sinking. He was right. I had zero control over anything in this relationship.
