Chapter 1
Chapter 1 Played Cheating Video At Wedding, I Quit
The ceremony was at the ring exchange.
Suddenly, a video of my husband cheating with the bridesmaid flashed across the big screen.
Andrew Lawson's first reaction was to block Chloe Turner's face from the screen.
The emcee hurried to stop the video, but it was already too late.
Andrew turned and knelt in front of me, grabbing the hem of my dress.
"Summer, whatever I've done wrong, you can deal with me when we get home. But with all these guests watching, let's just finish the ceremony and not make a scene."
I laughed at how he tried to shift the blame onto me.
A person's first reaction in a crisis never lies,' I thought.
I took off my veil and gently placed it on the ground. "Andrew, honestly, ever since you insisted she be your bridesmaid, I've been curious just how outrageous you could get." "But you know what, it doesn't matter." "Because if the tables were turned..."
I looked up at the quiet man sitting in the very first row.
"I would run to the one I truly love too."
"I'm calling off this wedding."
The moment I finished speaking, the whole venue fell into a dead silence.
Then, whispers and murmurs erupted everywhere.
"Oh my god, someone actually played a cheating video at a wedding? Who the hell did that?"
"The bride is so unlucky. The groom was cheating with the bridesmaid!"
"Isn't Chloe just an intern at Andrew's company? I heard she's only 22..."
Andrew's face went from pale to livid. He shot to his feet and pointed straight at the AV booth.
"Who did this? Who the hell did this?!"
His friends exchanged uneasy glances, and Eric, one of the groomsmen, hesitated before speaking up. "Drew, Chloe said she wanted to make a tribute video for you and Summer herself, so she went to the control room..."
Andrew's eyes widened in shock.
Chloe rushed into Andrew's arms.
"It wasn't me! Drew, please believe me! How could I possibly do something like this? Someone's trying to frame me—the video was doctored!"
Andrew held her stiffly, but his gaze shifted to me. "Summer, this must be a misunderstanding. Chloe could never do something like this..."
I watched them wrapped up in each other's arms. I felt like this wedding, planned for half a year, was an absurd comedy.
Chloe looked up from Andrew's embrace, tears streaming down her face.
"Summer, you have to believe me. Drew and I are nothing more than coworkers. That video is fake..."
Drew.' 'She calls him more intimately than I ever did,' I thought, a bitter smile tugging at my lips.
I interrupted her, keeping my voice steady.
"So, that butterfly tattoo on your back in the video—was that just photoshopped too?"
Chloe's face turned pale as a sheet, and without thinking, she covered her back.
The guests gasped and started whispering again.
Andrew quickly let go of Chloe and rushed over to me, trying to take my hand.
"Summer, that's all in the past. I swear I won't ever mess up again once we're married!"
"With all our friends and family here, let's just get through the ceremony, okay? I'm begging you..."
He lowered his voice, pleading: "Don't embarrass me in front of everyone. You can punish me however you want when we get home."
I stared into his eyes, saw the panic and the calculation, and suddenly that rainy night from three months ago flashed through my mind.
He claimed he was working late at the office, but when I got into his car, there was this unfamiliar perfume lingering inside.
He said it was just a female coworker who'd caught a ride with him.
I asked if that coworker was Chloe.
What did he say to me back then?
"Summer, why are you being so suspicious? Chloe's just an intern—like I'd ever go for her."
I closed my eyes for a second, then looked out over the guests.
My parents were so angry they were trembling.
My mom was clutching her chest, and my dad had his fists balled up, ready to rush up to the stage—only to be held back by our relatives.
In the front row, that man sat quietly, watching me with steady eyes, like he was telling me, "Do whatever you want—I'm with you."
I took a deep breath and spoke clearly into the microphone. "Everyone, I'm really sorry you had to witness this drama. The wedding is canceled. All your wedding gifts will be returned. Please go ahead and enjoy the banquet the hotel prepared—just treat it as our family's way of saying sorry."
"Summer!" Andrew shouted, his voice cracking.
Without even glancing at Andrew, I headed straight for my parents and dropped to my knees in front of them.
"Dad, Mom, I'm sorry... I embarrassed our family."
My mom hugged me tight, tears pouring down her cheeks.
"Oh, sweetheart, you're not the one who should feel ashamed—it's that bastard!"
My dad, his eyes bloodshot and brimming with tears, helped me up, then turned to Lawson's family and shouted.
"Take your shameless son and that homewrecker and get the hell out!"
