Chapter 5
Early the next morning, Alex woke me up.
We headed to the lottery center.
He looked even more excited than I was. It was like he was the one who'd won, not me.
After all the paperwork, when he saw the money hit my account, his grin was so wide it nearly split his face.
We won fifteen million dollars, and after taxes, we still had thirteen million dollars.
But when the staff asked if we wanted to donate, Alex's face fell, "We're not donating. No way. Her dad needs a heart transplant. So we need every penny."
The staff member gave a wry smile and thought, 'Who needs tens of millions for a heart transplant?'
I don't care about him.
I went ahead and donated 660,000 dollars.
I needed money, but so did others.
I didn't mind helping out when I could.
But if anyone tried to mess with my money, especially the cash meant to save my dad without my say-so, there was no way in hell I'd let that slide.
Alex's face turned stormy.
I caught his lips twitching, like he was holding back.
He looked like he was dying to snap at me, but didn't have the guts.
There were plenty of staff around, not to mention a few reporters.
No way he'd risk making a scene with all these people watching.
It was that when we took pictures, Alex didn't smile so happily.
After we left the lottery center, Alex started making excuses to rush back to work for something urgent.
I nodded.
After he took a taxi and left, I turned around and got into another car, following him.
The car headed out to the suburbs.
In the car, I skillfully opened the banking APP, entered my father's bank card number, and transferred money.
Yesterday, I'd already set up all the transfer settings and limits.
I even hid out in the bathroom, practicing again and again, just to make sure I wouldn't screw it up.
Now, in less than a minute, the 13 million dollars from the card was transferred to my dad's account.
And now, my bank account was back to one cent.
