Mom's tone was harsh.

"Your brother called me. He said you stormed off and came home because you were acting up? Why can't you be more mature?"

I was instantly alert.

"So it's not like I think it is?" Mom cut me off, her tone sharp.

Mom interrupted me, "What's the issue with your brother and his wife asking you to chip in for groceries? You eat their food and stay in their house, isn't it only fair you pay your share?"
