When I went to the hotel to find them, David and Linda were having breakfast with Sophie.

David swept a glance over me, his tone calm. "I heard you've been on leave for days. What, finally realized we won't go soft on you and decided to admit you were wrong?"

I humbled myself completely and forced my stiff tongue to form the apology.

I pled, "Dad, Mom, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I apologize to Sophie.
