Chapter 4

Marvin laughs sleepily, tucks Remy closer to his chest.

The kid goes easily, melts into his body and lays there with his hand on Marvin's neck, grinning up at him brightly.

"Dad," Remy says.

Omyx makes a vaguely muffled noise that Marvin thinks may sound like a prayer for death, but doesn't do anything else, other than sling his arm over Remy's waist.

His hand lands on Marvin's hip, and Marvin twitches helplessly.

"Yeah, buddy?" Omyx mumbles.

"How come Marvin's sleeping in your bed?"

"Because he was tired."
