It was midnight when Kieran unlocked the front door.

He stepped inside and shook the snow from his shoulders.

"I brought the car back," he called out into the dark hallway. "Stop being angry."

No one answered.

The house was completely dark and dead silent.

Kieran tossed his car keys onto the marble console table. The metal made a loud clatter.

He frowned. He assumed Arden was still at the hospital with Noa. Or perhaps she had taken Noa to her mother's penthouse for a few days.
