Chapter 4
"Esteemed visitors, allow me to clarify!" I said, pulling Rayden forward. "This is Dr. Rayden Wells of Herbal Valley, a specialist in mental cultivation and psychological guidance."
Next, I ushered Walter into view. "This is Walter Harmon, a music cultivator whose melodies facilitate emotional catharsis and spiritual realignment."
Finally, I gestured toward Victor. "And this is Victor Sterling, a sword cultivator who provides specialized counseling on combat-related mental fortitude and resolve."
The trio nodded in practiced unison.
The square-jawed law enforcer looked unconvinced. "Then why did a patron refer to you as her 'cultivation companion'?"
"It's merely an academic term! Professional jargon," I maintained, my expression earnest.
I added, "'Companion' signifies mutual support on the Dao path, a purely platonic, scholarly partnership. It is certainly not what you imply."
I produced a copy of the Treatise on Inner Demon Subjugation. Its pages were filled with a seamless blend of modern psychological terminology and esoteric cultivation concepts.
"Please, observe. This forms the theoretical foundation of our work. Emotional equilibrium is directly correlated with cultivation efficiency and breakthrough success rates," I explained, pointing to relevant passages.
The enforcer became increasingly entangled in discussions of "spiritual clarity" and "the steadfastness of the cultivation heart," his initial suspicion gradually giving way to confusion.
"But the attire..." he protested, pointing at the open collar of Rayden's robe. "This is hardly dignified."
I kept my composure. "A relaxed atmosphere is essential for effective consultation. It's widely acknowledged that a serene mind is the most fertile ground for cultivation, is it not?"
Seeing his hesitation, I played my trump card. "The best way to judge is to experience it yourself. A complimentary session, on the house."
The man recoiled. "Preposterous! I am a disciplined cultivator."
"True understanding comes from firsthand experience," I countered with a persuasive smile, gently guiding Walter toward him. "Perhaps a session of 'Heart's Repose Melody'?"
Walter's fingers drifted across the strings, releasing a cascade of pure, tranquil notes that carried a gentle, calming energy.
The enforcer's rigid posture slowly unwound. As the last note faded, he actually seemed reluctant for it to end. "The melody... does indeed quiet the restless thoughts."
"Would you care for a preliminary spiritual wellness assessment?" Rayden offered smoothly, presenting a diagnostic scroll.
Rayden asked, "Have you experienced frequent dream intrusion, restless sleep, or unexplained irritability recently?"
The cultivator's eyes widened slightly. "How could you know?"
Rayden allowed a knowing, subtle smile. "I would recommend fifteen minutes of seated quiet contemplation daily at the zenith hour, focusing on the rhythm of breath..."
Half an hour later, the law enforcement disciples departed, each clutching a complimentary premium membership token for the Serenity Lounge.
"Crisis averted," I exhaled, finally allowing myself to relax.
Victor, leaning against his sword, snorted derisively. "That was a masterpiece of deception."
"That," I corrected, rolling my eyes, "is strategic operational management. Without quick thinking, our doors would be sealed by now."
Rayden nodded thoughtfully. "Ms. Ginger's psychological frameworks appear to have substantial merit."
"Naturally! It's an empirically validated methodology," I declared, chin lifted proudly.

That evening after closing, I convened an emergency strategy session. "Today was a warning. We must elevate our professional presentation."
I unfurled a set of architectural plans. "I propose a comprehensive renovation, dividing the space into three thematic zones.
"Victor's sector will embody austere majesty. We'll call it the 'Blade Hall.'"
"Rayden's zone will be warm and healing, so we'll name it Healing Haven.
"And Walter's section will be artsy and refined. We'll call it Harmony Lounge."
The three gathered around the blueprints, studying them without dissent.
I allowed a sly grin. "But that's not all. We are launching a premier promotional event: the 'Star Showdown.'"
"A showdown?" Victor frowned.
"The one with the highest monthly score will be crowned the 'Luminary of Serenity Lounge' and receive a bonus of fifty Top-grade Spirit Stones!" I announced.
Rayden's eyes gleamed with interest. Walter clenched his fists in determination. Even Victor's posture shifted, a spark of competitiveness igniting in his gaze.
"The campaign begins next month," I stated, clapping my hands. "For now, everyone, prepare for tomorrow's character immersion drills."
Victor's "Icy Mentor" persona required refined ocular expressiveness. He needed to master a gaze that held a trace of concern without sacrificing commanding authority.
I had him practice before the mirror, aiming for a precise blend: 30% nuanced concern, 30% tacit appreciation, and 40% detached indifference.
"Like this?" he attempted, his eyes comically wide.
"Less 'predatory hawk,' more... 'observing a rare but fragile spirit butterfly,'" I coached.
Victor strained until his face flushed, but eventually produced a look that was marginally less intimidating.
Rayden needed to advance his "Gentle Healer" archetype to incorporate elements of the popular "Overbearing Yet Devoted Physician" trope.
This included practicing the classic "wall pin" maneuver.
"This is profoundly undignified," Rayden muttered, his ears turning scarlet.
"It's a narrative motif with significant audience appeal. Here, use me as your practice subject," I instructed, standing by a wall.
Flustered, Rayden awkwardly braced an arm near me. "Miss, only a physician like me can untangle the knots within your heart."
He was so mortified he seemed on the verge of spontaneous combustion, the red of his ears deepening.
