"Shh, keep your voice down. You don't want Frederick to find out, do you?" I whispered as I slipped through the window into Daniel's room.

Under the moonlight, a faint blush spread across Daniel's face. "What do you want?"

"Don't ask such dumb questions," I said, giving him a playful slap. His skin felt soft and smooth.

"Why? Aren't you into Frederick? Why are you doing this to me?" he whispered, pulling my hand away.

His lashes fluttered as he looked down, and there was a hint of something like hope hidden in his deep eyes.
