Early the next morning, I took the cash and went to the hospital to pay the bill.

The doctor frowned as he looked over my test results. "Miss Chase, your condition has gotten much worse. We need to admit you immediately."

I took the report, shoved it into my bag, and shook my head. "Doctor, I'm done with treatment. I'll take a prescription for painkillers."
