Chapter 4

The timing I'd been waiting for finally arrived.

On the Saturday of the third week, Alex and his friends organized a weekend trip to a cozy lodge in Meadowfield.

There were twelve of us in total—six guys and six girls. Besides Cara and me, the other four guys each brought their girlfriends along.

Before we left, Alex told me, "If you ever feel out of place or uncomfortable, just let me know."

I smiled and shook my head. "No, really. Your friends are all great, and Ms. Thompson is a lot of fun."

Alex looked relieved.
