Chapter 3

"Karina," I could see Alex mouthing my name.

But in the next moment, his expression soured, almost as if he was scared of me, and he pulled the girl behind him to protect her.

The girl noticed me too, yet she deliberately leaned into his arms, as if on purpose.

Then their fingers locked together, and Alex didn't even try to pull away.

"Why are you here?" Alex asked.

They walked up to me, and Alex's face showed a hint of irritation.

"I came for the fireworks show," I replied, my voice calm.

Alex seemed to be searching for jealousy…
