The day after I moved out, I went to the office to drop off some documents.

Alex wasn't there. His office door was open, so I set the papers on his desk. As I turned to leave, I heard voices from the break room at the end of the hall.

She was talking by the doorway, not loud, not soft but loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.
