Those words felt like nails hammered right into Mrs. Bennett's vision.

Her body trembled, like a leaf caught in a cold autumn breeze.

She muttered, "No no, I won't sign."

She kept whispering to herself, her tone weak but piercing.

"My son can't lose his leg! He can't be a cripple!" Mrs. Bennett shouted.

She suddenly jerked her head up, her bloodshot eyes glaring at me.

"Claire! It's you! You're the jinx who caused all this!" she yelled.

"Go beg the doctors! Tell them you can pay, whatever it takes! You have to save my son's leg!"
