Chapter 4

The long wound on my stomach had split open again from all the struggling.

Blood covered Daniel's hands, turning them bright red.

Daniel stared at the blood on his hands in disbelief.

Then he looked at the wound on my stomach, stitched up with black thread.

Daniel stammered, "Your stomach...

"What's going on with your stomach?

"Why is there such a big wound?

"Where's the baby? Is the baby alright?"

I held out my hands, making no attempt to hide anything.

I didn't bother to fix my messy clothes, just letting them hang loose.
