Chapter 1
My boyfriend of five years suddenly turned and proposed to his childhood friend.
And he still had the audacity to ask me to keep seeing him.
I let out a light laugh and said, "If you want to go back to the trash heap, I'll personally send you there."
I cut off all financial support. He immediately fell to his knees, begging for forgiveness.
Too bad that he wasn't the only man in the world.

"Baby, you don't have anything on your schedule today, right?" Keenan Barton asked.
This was the second time he had checked with me today.
I smiled and said, "Nope."
Today was the day his company went public, and I knew he was planning to propose to me.
A few days ago, I accidentally found out he'd ordered 9,999 red roses and booked a table at the revolving restaurant on the top floor of Horizon Plaza for today.
So I cleared my schedule and waited patiently for his "surprise."
But instead of getting his invitation, I got a video from my assistant.
In the video, Keenan was down on one knee in the middle of a sea of flowers, proposing to his childhood sweetheart, Morgan Fraser.
I kept replaying the video over and over, until I felt nothing but numbness inside.
I called my assistant back, didn't bother with any explanations, and simply told him to cut off all the Miller Group's secret support for Keenan.
I loved Keenan. But more than that, I knew I had to put myself first.
I was the one and only heiress of the Miller Group. No way was I going to waste my tears at night over some two-timing jerk.
He was just trying to make a big deal out of how. Even after hitting it big, he still remembered the girl who stuck by him through thick and thin.
Fine, I would make sure they both reunite in the gutter, right where they belong.
Less than an hour later, Keenan must've caught wind that his company was falling apart and stormed straight back to my villa.
"You did this, didn't you?" Keenan spat.
Even as he demanded answers, his right hand clamped around my throat.
He shoved me into the corner, not giving a damn that my head slammed painfully against the wall.
This was the guy I wasted five years loving.
I sneered, "Keenan, shouldn't you be savoring your big night? You just got engaged. What, already rushing back here?"
Keenan's brows furrowed, impatience and anger clear in his voice as he shot back at me, "Seraphina! You had someone spying on me again! Seriously, can you chill with the control stuff? If you keep acting like this, we're really over."
I had no clue where he got off saying "again."
If I'd really had him followed all along, how would I only find out about his cheating when he proposed?
I lifted my right foot and drove my stiletto straight into his balls.
He finally let go of my throat, doubling over with a muffled groan, clutching himself and dropping to the floor.
"We're done," I said coldly.
I glanced down at my custom-made gown and those limited-edition heels.
I had chosen them especially for his proposal tonight.
I kicked off my heels and headed back to the walk-in closet to change into something comfortable.
"Seraphina, did you forget what you said before?" Keenan said.
He was like a shadow I couldn't shake off, refusing to leave me alone.
He said, "Didn't you say you loved me enough to give up everything for me? So why can't you just let go of your status? Was everything you said just a lie?"
When we first started dating, Keenan always reminded me I was the Miller Group heiress, while he was just a debt-ridden wage slave.
To protect his ego and help him dodge all the rumors and whispers, I agreed to keep us a secret.
Our hidden romance lasted five whole years.
I scoffed, "So you expect me to just keep letting you and Morgan treat me like some idiot with your little games?"
Before I could finish, Keenan's phone started ringing.
"Baby, I'm just talking to Seraphina about something. Once I sort things out, I'll come back." He was comforting Morgan right in front of me.
I snatched his phone right out of his hand and hurled it to the floor.
"Keenan, even if you've got zero shame, could you at least not disgust me in my own house?" I snapped.
This was the man I'd wasted five years loving.
Caught cheating, and instead of feeling guilty, he shamelessly coddled his mistress right in front of me.
Why was I so sure Morgan's the side chick? Because I knew exactly what kind of person she was.
Even if nobody else knew about me and Keenan, Morgan and my assistant definitely did. So don't tell me she didn't know she was messing with someone else's man.
Morgan was calling me.
I was actually curious to hear what Morgan had to say.
"Miss Miller, I hope you'll give us your blessing. After all, I was the one who loved Keenan first," Morgan said.
May their toxic love last forever.
