It'd always been this way, ever since I could remember.

I'd always known Grandma never really cared about me.

That freebie toy she gave me was a constant sting in my heart, something I could never forget.

One summer when I was a kid, my parents had Sandra come stay with us in the city.

It was the first time I ever shared a roof with her.

Sandra treated me like I was her sworn enemy, always making it clear she couldn't stand me.

"Was it your idea to keep me out of the city?" she snapped. "You're so vicious!"
